Chairman

Former Director of Finance and Chief Executive Officer of the People's Bank of Zanzibar (PBZ), where he led the bank's turnaround from a loss-making entity with negative net worth into a stable, profitable institution and established PBZ's standalone Islamic Banking Division.

He advises the Government of Zanzibar on the Waqf and Trust Commission and on the establishment of Shari'ah-compliant Islamic social security under the Zanzibar Social Security Fund (ZSSF).

Board Chair of ZIC Takaful and a member of the Shari'ah Board of PBZ Islamic Banking.

His research record spans Islamic banking operations, Takaful mechanisms, poverty alleviation and economic evaluation. He works extensively with statistical modelling software including IBM SPSS, IBM AMOS and Partial Least Squares (PLS).

Former Internal Auditor and Corporate Plan Coordinator at the Bank of Tanzania, and former Chief Accountant at Zanzibar Shipping Corporation. He lectures in Financial Accounting and Auditing at Zanzibar University.
